How Nutrition and Yoga Can Support Digestion, Immunity, Energy & Relaxation is here!
My labor of love for the past seven months is now ready for me to share with the world and I’m so freaking excited. And a little scared. But mostly excited 🙂
It’s always a little scary when you put something you poured your heart and soul into out in the world. I remember feeling the same way when I launched this blog. But I know that this eBook is going to do so much good for so many people and with that I can kiss all those fears goodbye.
I became a yoga teacher in 2014 after a corporate lay off and a wise life coach said to me stop thinking about what you want to do and start asking yourself who do I want to be. Later that day I took a yoga class and I felt so strongly in my heart that who I wanted to be was a yoga teacher. Because yoga is such a big part of who I am. It’s been a part of my life since I was 16 years old. It’s helped me heal from panic attacks and anxiety.
Today, it helps me to feel grounded, centered and connected to my Truest self. There is no greater feeling for me than seeing the blissed out looks on my students’ faces after a yoga class. Observing the subtle shifts in their minds and bodies. It’s a truly beautiful thing.
My goal since I decided to do my yoga teacher training was to find an integration of nutrition and yoga. Because I am a registered dietitian nutritionist too and food and nutrition are also a big part of who I am and the work that I do today. And to me, integrating nutrition and yoga seemed like a no-brainer. Because if we are more mindful, centered and grounded through the practice of yoga, then we will approach our food differently. We will no longer eat because we’re angry, sad, shameful, anxious (insert any emotion here).
We will be more adapt to confront our emotions and find other ways of dealing with them besides food. We will no longer rush through our meals, overeating and unsatisfied.
Through mindfulness, will be able to slow down our eating and savor each bite and leave our meals feeling satiated. And btween, there is research out there on the benefits of yoga on mindful eating and emotional reactivity so I’m not making this stuff up :).
But I was left with the question how will I integrate nutrition and yoga?
